Welcome to the world of teenagers, this is a wonderful phase in one’s life. Both nature and nurture’s play, is given equal importance and a teenager is the center of our focus at Teenage Foundation.

Well! you must be wondering what is the purpose behind all this. I am Dr. Lalita Anand, a teacher and mother of two adolescents. Watching teenagers reel under the burden of expectations and seeing them struggle to match up to their parent’s dreams is heart wrenching. Don’t these teenagers have dreams of their own? Wouldn’t they want something for themselves too? Did we ever pause to ask them? Were some of the thought provoking issues which I brainstormed on, and wanted to find solutions.

Observing them, I found that they also face issues like mismatch in their abilities and choices, straying due to peer pressure, engrossing themselves in their computer and mobiles due to loneliness and dearth of direction, battling their insecurities, lack of self-confidence, getting depressed alternatively hyper and aggressive, sometimes meeting a tragic end due to risky actions, and most of the time these all go unnoticed, unspoken and we remain unaware.

Rise in juvenile crime rates worried me and I was deeply moved by teenagers committing suicides. It then occurred to me that there is a gap in how we should be and how we are dealing with them. Today’s seeds are tomorrow’s trees, and these young minds will reign the world tomorrow. This made me ponder a lot and I questioned myself, are they ready to face the world? Do they have adequate resources to deal with the challenges the society and the world poses to them? Who is going to walk along with them through this journey ?

As days went by and while my kids grew up, my understanding also widened I had insights as I engaged myself in discussions with my father at length who then guided me and the thought became an idea and the idea is what you see.

Teenage Foundation is a dream come true for me, I wholeheartedly dedicate it to my wonderful children and to all those adorable teenagers out there. Come, join hands with us, let’s grow together!
